Common Barriers with Technology
1. Institutional barriers
One barrier in education concerning technology would be institutional barriers. It is hard for educators to teach using technology when there are not enough computers for students or even blocked websites that could be useful such as YouTube. Teachers can easily overcome this problem though. They can use website such as this one to create an online version of their class. They can post homework assignments as well as projects and self-help sites so students can work online at home or at a library.
2. Lack of Resources
Teachers need to find a way to implement technology in a very small window of time. Not being able to use technology results in lost interest from students and even a low grade point average. Time is always an issue when technology is concerned, therefore teachers should use their time wisely. Have a technology day if you have the means to do one. Maybe the teacher can use different tools such as PowerPoint to present a lesson. Teachertube is also a very unique website that teachers could use.
3. Lack of Skills
One thing teacher’s face with problems in technology is the lack of skills it takes to use technology. Taking a technology class in education is a very good way to learn how to use technology in your classroom. If a teacher has the means to take a class I would widely recommend it, but if a teacher cannot take a class I would recommend getting with a fellow teacher that understands technology.
